Research and Planning - Weather

For the day we were filming - 16th October 2017 we researched and checked what the weather would be like. It wasn't very promising but we thought that no matter what the weather is we should film, when we filmed it was cloudy and quite dark. This is effective as it makes the horror movie complete, with the bitterness and the freezing cold wind it just makes it seem more like a realistic horror movie. the weather fits in perfectly. For this we linked it to IT and the weather looks exactly the same, for IT to be a hit horror movie and have the same weather as us we thought it was effective as it shows that we are making sure everything is perfect.

Research and Planning - Script.

For our film trailer this is the script so far, we haven't written them all down because this is the parts with the main characters. We've written down these parts so we know what the main characters say. We split it up into lines with each character so that its easy to understand and can be read easily.

Research and Planning - Final Film Title.

For our groups final film title I decided to go for a screwed up piece of paper that i shaded in grey, with the letters for 'Smile' just laying on top of the piece of paper. I drew out the smile name onto a plain bit of A4 paper and to make it look effective for a horror movie i made it look like the letters were dripping, in the hint of blood or a liquid dripping down on the letters. I done this is black and white just to give it that eerie feel for the horror movie. I done that for all of the letters besides the i. I chose to do the i in the shape of a smiley face because in our trailer we have our signature smiley face which was carved into the victims cheek. So instead of the i being boring and like the other letters i made it a smiley face but you can also see that its still an i. I done this red and not dripping because i wanted it to link in with the smiley face on the cheek of the victim so i made it look a little bit like a wound and the reason i didn't make it look like it was dripping is because i didn't want all the letters to be the same so i made the i unique. The reason i didn't stick the letters down onto the bit of paper is because it looks very effective just resting on top of the screwed up piece of A4 paper as you can see the shadow from the letters, it doesn't look boring and bland and also it makes it look 3D which is also effective because it seems like its popping out at you. Overall, I think that this is a very good title and would stand out to the audience if they were to walk by and see it on a poster, its new, unique and links very well with our film idea.

Research and Planning - Shot List

In our trailer we are using a wide range of shots and many different angles so that it makes our trailer effective. Each of these shots are going to add effects in a number of different ways, the shots show different effects (low angle shows power and high angle shows vulnerability) this is effective as then we will know what power the characters have and how they are given off in the trailer.

The different shots we are using are:
Medium shot - shows body language and body language.
Long shot - Shows the whole body with body language and how they are presenting themselves.
Close up - shows facial expressions up close.
High angle - shows the characters power.
Low angle - shows the characters vulnerability.
Extreme close up - shows the expressions up close but even closer that a close up.

These are the shots we are using and they are effective and will make trailer perfect. In particular the high and low angle because they show the characters status and shows if they are in danger or not. The other shots we are using will be effective, as an example a medium shot is a great shot as you can see the facial expressions quite clear and also see the body language which can tell us how the character is feeling. Another one is a close up, this is very effective as you can see facial expressions from the character but also if it was of an object you would be able to see it close up with loads of detail. Finally, a long shot is great for showing the scenery and the characters whole body with the body language and also the scenery around them.

Research and Planning - Animated Storyboard Software.

The software we are using for our animated storyboard is an app called 'Toon Boom Storyboard Pro 5.5. This is effective software as it has many different features and uses. On this you can draw, if we needed to edit anything or add something in we could just draw it on. There's many different colours we can use and you can also add text. This is effective as if we wanted to colour it in we could and if we wanted to add speech bubbles or subtitles we could use the add text tool. This photo shows the layout and setup of the software. Down the left hand side you have all of the tools that we could use including colour, text and the select tool. The canvas that we are using is in the middle of the screen. The different scenes are along the bottom of the screen, this shows us what order the scenes are in and we can change it if need be. The software has been effective so far in making the animated storyboard but we still have a lot of tools left to use to make it complete.

Research and Planning - Final Production Titles

These 2 are the final photo's for the production titles. We decided to use these as out of the 4 these 2 stood out the most and also the football goal with the sunset wasn't really linked to anything and it was just a bit random. The palm tree's and the sunset stood out and are effective in their own way. The palm tree's adds colour and character and just starts the trailer off with something different that no one else has done before and the sunset. People have done it before but because i took the photo myself and first hand it just makes it that bit better. I love the sunset photo because having the trees in the photo makes it look unrealistic but its realistic at the same time. The trees don't look real and they look like silhouettes which makes it look like its unrealistic. Overall, i think these photos are a good choice as i took them first hand so there isn't any plagiarizing and they make the trailers production titles look great; just adds colour and character.

Research and Planning - Storyline

Kiera and Anna have been shopping in their local town - Epsom and they come out of House of Fraser after their shopping trip. They discuss that there’s nothing in that store that they like and they carry on discussing that the clothing wasn’t really their style. After this, Anna and Kiera carry on walking on their route home past the UCA college and Rosebury Park. In this process they come across a girl that they had never encountered before, her name is Charlotte and she is angry at the fact that there is a missing poster up of Ellie who had been missing for a year, she says that there is no point in it being up as she is probably dead. Kiera and Ellie were/are best friends so when Anna and Kiera approach Charlotte, Kiera got angry and there was nearly an argument. An undercover officer - Josh, had to approach all of them, show them the badge and tell them that they are causing a disturbance and needed to be quiet and sort it out. Anna and Kiera walk off and just carry on their route home as they were doing before. As this is happening Kiera sees Ellie sitting on the floor against a tree, Kiera asks Anna if that’s Ellie and Anna says nah it’s probably just your imagination. So again they carry on their route home. Then Ellie’s eyes open, she seems possessed and she has cuts and a gunshot on her face, one of the cuts is a smiley face that seemed to be carved into her face. Before Anna and Kiera realise Ellie was alive and there, we also find out the officer was possessed and they are together and they are there to try and kill Anna and Kiera. Then it goes dark.....

Research and Planning - Behind the Missing Poster

These 2 photo's shown below are photos of me taking a video/photo of the missing poster. We needed to film a few second clip for the trailer of the missing poster. In the first photo it shows the missing poster on the tree with the background behind it, the background is blurred out so that it focuses on the poster. This is an effect on the Apple iPhone 7/7 Plus called the depth effect. the second photo is of me filming the poster, i tried in many different way with different angles and effects. Anna took a photo of me filming the poster to show how we were doing it, where we were doing it and what the scenery looked like, along with the weather.

Research and Planning - Props Used.

In the final trailer we used a few different things. We used a range to make it more natural and look more like everyday life.
Our items are:
Image result for pva glue the works
This was used to make sure the Special FX makeup stuck to Ellie's face and didn't come off. It made it secure and gave it a more realistic look.
Image result for fake blood
We also used fake blood, this is really realistic and makes it all look more like a human is actually bleeding. You can't actually tell that its fake as it looks like real blood. If we were to use no blood then it wouldn't look realistic at all, this was one of the items that made our look perfect.
Image result for special fx makeup kits
For our trailer we used Special FX makeup, ours wasn't as advanced as this but we used very similar things and this is the closest we could get to make it look like ours and what we used.

Image result for plastic police badge
We used a police badge so that one of our characters an show the audience who they are, at first we aren't sure who they are but as the scene progresses we find out that they are an undercover police officer and they are one of the main characters.
Image result for iphone 6s
One of the characters uses their phone in one of the scene's as they are talking on the phone and needed a phone for this. We didn't see the point in buying a fake phone when we could just turn this characters phone off and use this instead.

Image result for tripod
This is one of the tripod's we used, this was the main one we used so that the camera was stable and wasn't moving around too much and the picture and filming was bad. This tripod was effective as we can adjust the height so that we can film different angles and shots by doing this, during filming we did do it a few times to change the look of the shot.
Image result for canon eos m10
This is the camera we used, it is a Canon EOS M10. We used this as it has great quality and the picture is pretty much perfect whilst filming. One of the main characters already had this camera so we didn't need to go out and buy another one.
Image result for tripod
This is the handheld tripod that we used when filming so that if we were filming a scene which we needed to be from a person's perspective then they could walk along with us and film with the camera in their hands. This is effective as it makes everything look more realistic and more natural if its from someones point of view.

Research and Planning - Production Title Idea's

For our production titles we have to include photo's for the background, our group is deciding to take the photo's ourselves so that we aren't copyrighting any photo's and we are the people that took them first hand. We are only using 2 photo's for the production titles but I've included 3 photo's that I've taken first hand that we might be using. I have taken these recently and just kept them on my iPhone for future use that i was uncertain of but now i have use of them. They were taken at different times of the year but i saw the scene or objects and just needed to take pictures of them.

This photo of the sun rising is one i took on 31/10/17. I also love the sun rising, its beautiful its just brings colour to the world after the dark of the night. To see it rise is a privilege and i thought when i saw this is that i also didn't want to miss this chance to see the sun rising. When i took this i thought of using for a production photo straight away and wanted to show everyone that the world is beautiful and i thought that this is in the top 10 for best photo's I've taken. I love how you can see the tree's but as its still quite dark as the sun is rising they look like silhouettes.

This photo is one of the older and first ones i'd ever taken, i took it on 11/12/16. I was at Epsom Downs and i had bubbles as i was with my sisters, mum and dog. My sister and i were playing with the bubbles and they just looked so perfect. The bubbles had loads of colour, the wind was moving it in loads of different directions and was making it move around in different shapes. I'd always seen bubbles like this but these bubbles just looked better so i thought that i needed to take a photo of the bubbles to show people that bubbles are actually beautiful and look better than people think. They just move as the world makes them move and they just flow with the wind.
Another idea we had for a production title was a picture i took in March whilst i was on a family holiday in Turkey. The palm tree's just looked so perfect and i just thought that i needed to take a photo of it. It's effective as its something different from any production title before so i suggested that we used it because it would be one of the reasons that our trailer is unique. The sky, hills in the background, mixed with the sand and the palm tree's and the sea its just a picture worth taking. If you were to try and describe this to someone they wouldn't believe it; its just picture perfect.

Research and Planning - 1st Brainstorm

This is our first brainstorm for our trailer ideas, we all had a similar idea for the trailer as we are all loving the horror theme. We didn’t really know at first how we were all going to come to conclusion with the same idea that we all loved so as a group we came up with this simple idea that we all decided could be done and we liked. We also didn’t know much about the detail as we done another idea also in case we decided we didn’t want to do this one or the other one was better. This conforms the typical stereotype of a horror movie, it includes scary/eerie scenes, has a build up to the scene and also has vulnerable people that end up being in trouble or the trailer gives off that they get into trouble. We didn’t want to change the stereotype of a horror movie but we also didn’t want to copy and other horror movies so we made our unique and made sure it wasn’t the same as any other movies.
